A court in Moscow arrested one of the top managers of Rosatom

On March 28, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the director for control of construction projects of the state corporation Rosatom, Gennady Sakharov. He is accused of receiving a particularly large bribe from the head of one of the company’s key contractors.

The 62-year-old top manager of the state corporation was detained by the FSB on March 27. It is known about Sakharov that he has worked for the state corporation since 2010. Until January, he served as director of capital investments, Kommersant writes.

A suspect in giving a bribe to Sakharov was also arrested in the same case. 77-year-old Elgudzhi Kokosadze. He runs the company “Orgenergostroy”. The company’s website states that it is “one of Russia’s largest private companies in the nuclear industry” and a permanent contractor of Rosatom and its subsidiaries.

According to the charges, both defendants face up to 15 years in prison. Rosatom told Kommersant that they would assist the investigation; the positions of other parties to the case are unknown.
