American official: Famine "Very possible" In some areas of northern Gaza

A senior US State Department official said on Friday that famine poses a threat and is “very likely.” In at least some areas in northern Gaza, the scarcity of trucks represents a major obstacle to providing more humanitarian aid in the densely populated Strip, which is under Israeli siege.

The senior official, who requested anonymity, told Reuters, “We can say with confidence that famine poses a great danger in the south and center, but it does not exist. However, in the north it poses a danger and it is very likely that it will exist in at least some areas.” “It explains the urgency with which we have to move goods and food on a large scale to the north.”
