Russian Presidency: We use the right "Veto" Against an American decision on North Korea that is consistent with our interests

The press spokesman for the Russian presidency described the “Kremlin” Dmitry Peskov, his country’s use of the veto. Against the UN Security Council resolution regarding extending the mandate of experts on sanctions against North Korea that is consistent with its interest.

 

Peskov told reporters on Friday: " “This position is more consistent with our interests.” Russia used its veto power. “Veto” Yesterday, Thursday, he opposed the American draft resolution to extend the work of experts of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee on North Korea for a year. The American draft resolution stipulated extending the mandate of the Group of Experts on Sanctions until April 30, 2025.

It is noteworthy that China abstained from voting, while the rest of the members of the UN Security Council supported it, and Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, confirmed: His country does not support the American draft resolution on extending the mandate of the expert group of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee on North Korea.
